Sarah Reed Children's Center
Effectively follow your mission with an actionable plan in place.
Now more than ever, stronger nonprofits mean stronger communities.
Children are especially vulnerable these days, as are the non-profit organizations that serve them. So when Jim Mando, President and CEO of the Sarah Reed Children’s Center, came to Decision Associates with an especially perplexing dilemma, we were determined to help him find a solution.
Jim explained that even the most successful, well-established social service agencies are finding it increasingly difficult to fulfill their missions. Faced with government belt-tightening, a growing number of referrals, employee burnout, and aging facilities, many organizations are being forced to eliminate services, or worse yet, shut their doors.
Not so at Sarah Reed. For more than 100 years, the center has cared for traumatized children, and they are not about to give up now.
Nothing a little creative problem solving can’t fix, we thought, as we introduced the organization to our strategic planning process.
Working with these dedicated professionals, graduate students and volunteers has been a transformational experience – both for them and for Decision Associates. Now, after months of examining every aspect of their services and operations, the Sarah Reed Children’s Center has a comprehensive, long-range plan. This plan will strengthen its core services, establish a master facilities plan, reduce Sarah Reed’s reliance on government funding, strengthen employee hiring and retention practices, and improve management of its facilities. It’s not going to be easy, but with a new plan in place, the center will be better able to carry out its mission.
With their permission, we’d like to share their mission and vision statements here.
