Peer Groups

Dealing with personal and business issues is an ongoing challenge for the entrepreneur. Grappling with the complexities of their enterprise, assessing options, making critical decisions and dealing with personal issues are often done solo. Subjects are often too sensitive to share with others in the business or require a level of understanding beyond the scope of employees. Hence, the saying, “it is lonely at the top“, takes on real meaning.

The reality is most issues facing business owners/leaders are not unique, whether personal or business related. Others have gone through or are facing similar situations. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to tap into that experience and wisdom instead of going it alone?

Decision Associates brings this concept to reality through the development and coordination of three levels of Peer Groups. Each program is designed to not only provide for invaluable and confidential peer interaction to gain all its intended benefits, but to present learning opportunities and develop competencies essential in today’s business world.

Owner’s Peer Group
The agendas for the Owner’s Peer Group are structured to build value and depth in each of their business. Business leaders accept the fact that to grow the business, they must grow as well. The group focus is on human capital management, marketing, sales, succession planning, internal business relationships and creating/enhancing financial stability as they grow their businesses.

Leadership in Real Time (LIRT)
LIRT’s agendas are focused on building the necessary skills to become successful Owners, CEOs, or Executive Directors. The agendas are geared towards those individuals who are next in line for succession or those who have recently taken over/started their own business. Although there are similarities in the subject matters between the Owner’s Peer Group and LIRT, the specifics covered vary due to the differences in each group’s executive management objectives.

Success Through Engaging Peers (STEP)
STEP is a peer group developed for those who have recently entered a family business and/or are on the path towards executive management. The group concentrates on what is required to become effective leaders within their organizations while addressing the special needs of a family owned and operated business environment.

Peer Groups meet once a month. The meetings typically feature a combination of outside resources and speakers, group discussions, hot topics, breakout sessions and case studies. It is important to note that each group plays a key role in determining the agenda and direction to best address their needs. Participants can come from a diverse range of companies and industries. They bring a wealth of experience about what works and what doesn’t when trying to run and build a business. These monthly, member-only meetings are not designed to be networking sessions. A peer group is a place for you, as a business leader, to:

  • Improve your skills and abilities
  • Equip you to face the challenges of being the boss
  • Step out of the day-to-day and focus on the big picture
  • Work on growing your business with outside insight & experience
  • Share and receive wisdom from other business leaders
  • Gain practical business operating knowledge
  • Increase profits and value of your enterprise
  • Gain insight in dealing with employees in the business
