Being part of a Decision Associates’ Peer Group is a unique opportunity for a business owner. Rarely, if ever, do you have the opportunity to talk candidly about your business. This type of setting allows for those opportunities and fosters healthy business development/management discussions and leads to the creation of friendships that extend beyond the peer group setting.

Decision Associates has run Peer Groups for about 8 years. The owners, executives and managers who belong to them almost invariably tell us that the Peer Group is the best single investment they ever made for personal development and growth. These are not people who waste money or accolades, which begs the question: What exactly happens in a Peer Group? In the words of the members who join them:
“The challenges I faced as my company grew larger were incredibly more complicated and personally challenging than anything that I had experienced before. In the Peer Group, I have the equivalent of 8 or 9 other CEO’s who have been through some of the same issues and can help me sort the problem and the options, not just in the meeting, but outside as well. We are always connected and helping one another.”

Several Erie area women have been members of the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) for years, but without a local chapter. Sue had been awarded a 2010 Woman of the Year by the organization and later was approached by the national office to start the Erie Chapter. Sue agreed and organized a chapter, whose first meeting was held in February.
NAPW focuses on professional growth, networking (both online and in person), seminars and webinars, online training/education, social networking, discount programs and personal networking at the local chapter meetings. There are about 40 members in Erie.

Profiles International, the world’s fastest growing assessment publisher, has recently commissioned a study to examine one of the hottest topics in the business world today: employee engagement. This brief article addresses a few of the issues examined in the study. For the complete study, please click Executive Briefing.
According to the bestselling book First, Break All the Rules, authors Marcus Buckingham and Curt Coffman assert that only one out of every five employees is actively engaged in his or her work. That means that 80% of employees are either actively disengaged or neutral. How much productivity is your organization losing from these employees? Are your employees engaged in their work? Are they loyal to your organization? How do you know these things? And, if you don’t, how do you find out?
Kudos!
